The Macallan Classic Cut 2024 Edition

The Macallan Classic Cut 2024 is the eighth release in the distillery’s annual Classic Cut series, bottled at the whisky maker’s chosen strength of 52.4% ABV. Matured in a combination of sherry-seasoned European and American oak alongside ex-bourbon casks, it offers a brighter take on the familiar Macallan style. Vanilla and oak lead at full strength, while citrus and fruit provide freshness alongside the richer cask influence. The whisky is deliberately bottled at higher strength, allowing the addition of water to reveal different aspects of its character.

Our Take

A good whisky with a richness reminiscent of Tamdhu 15. Christmas cake on the nose leads into sweet vanilla and a hint of apple. Although a little water opens up the aroma, I find it takes something away from the palate. Best enjoyed neat.
